Privacy policy
Last changed September 17, 2026
This policy says what etta collects, why, where it goes, and how you control it. The short version: etta collects what it needs to plan your meals, sells nothing, shows no ads, and deletes your data when you ask.
What etta collects
Your account: the email address, Apple ID, or Google account you sign in with. Clerk, our sign-in provider, handles it.
Your household: what you tell etta, such as who eats with you, allergies, foods you refuse, how you eat, your goals, your ZIP code, and the store you shop at.
Your plans: the weeks etta plans, the meals you swap, and the grocery lists.
Your use: which parts of etta you use and when, so we can see what works and fix what breaks.
Why
To plan your week and fill your cart. To remember what you told etta, so you never repeat it. To run the free trial, the subscription, and referrals. To see which parts of etta people use.
Where your data goes
etta runs on servers we rent from Railway and Supabase in the United States.
Your words go to Anthropic, the company whose AI model reads them, so the model can choose your meals. Anthropic does not use them to train its models.
Sign-in runs through Clerk. Payments run through the App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat. etta never sees your card.
Usage events go to PostHog, our analytics service, as counts and categories only: which step you reached, your metro area, and your store. Never your email, your ZIP code, your allergies, or anything you typed.
When you connect a store, your grocery list goes to that store to fill the cart.
Nobody else gets your data. We do not sell it, rent it, or use it for ads.
Children
etta is for adults. You must be 18 or older to make an account. A parent or guardian enters the facts about a child, such as portions or allergies, and etta keeps them as part of the household, never as an account of the child.
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
How long we keep it
A conversation with etta on the site before you make an account is deleted after thirty days.
Everything under your account stays as long as the account does. Delete your account in the app, and your household, plans, and conversations go with it.
Usage counts in analytics carry no name and stay.
Your rights
You can see, correct, export, and delete your data. Most of it you can change in the app. For the rest, write to the contact address shown in the app, and we answer within thirty days.
You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Cookies
The site uses three kinds of cookies: one that remembers your conversation with etta before you make an account, one that remembers a friend's referral code until you make it, and the ones Clerk needs to keep you signed in. No tracking cookies. No advertising cookies.
Security
Your data travels encrypted and rests in databases that only the people who run etta can reach. No system is perfect. If a breach touches your data, we tell you.
Changes
When this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you in the app or on the site before it takes effect. The date at the top says when it last changed.
